As I said the other day, when we started this little site almost two years ago, I never in my wildest dreams imagined that we would one day play host to a sitting Governor of New York. That's exactly what is happening today and I am beyond humbled. It's an enormous honor to have the Governor with us today.
I would like to warmly welcome the Governor to our site and to thank him profusely for taking the time to answer questions from our community.
I guess I'll start things off. Though I am extremely tempted to ask about the Mets (What are we going to do about our bullpen, Governor?) I am very interested to know more about what the Governor is hoping to achieve with the November 18th special session.
It seems increasingly likely, given the worsening economic situation and turmoil in our financial sector, that the projected budget shortfall will be even larger than what was estimated just a few weeks ago. Given that the legislature has already made one round of spending cuts, where do you think you can find agreement for more spending cuts and/or new revenue?
I hope you will join me in welcoming Governor Paterson to The Albany Project. |
