Eric would have fought tooth and nail to force a VETO from the President. Pushing a vote would have forced all of Bush's Rubberstamp Cronies to go on the RECORD. As it is, we now face at least five more months of staying the course without standing and telling the world that WE ARE LEAVING STARTING RIGHT NOW. The longer we stay in Iraq, the worse it will be for our own National Interests, the Military and their Families, and the Iraqi people at large.
There is a need to hold leaders accountable for their actions such. Eric's opponent, Congressman Randy Kuhl has consistently voted for this war, for the Bush Agenda and for anything that the President tells him to. Randy Kuhl is in Lockstep with the White House and is completely out of step with the Voters in the 29th Congressional District. It's time hold him accountable.
This vote also demonstrates the importance of the 2008 Congressional elections. A simple Majority is not enough, we need to form a veto-proof FDR Majority in Congress so we move this nation in the right direction. We're only going to achieve this by standing up and firing Congressmen like Randy Kuhl.
Hear hear.
