NY-20: Biden's Radio Spot For Murphy

by: phillip anderson

Thu Mar 26, 2009 at 11:11:26 AM EDT

The day after the President of the United States endorsed Scott Murphy in the NY-20 special election, the Vice President followed suit and even recorded a radio spot for him.

This is Vice President Joe Biden. As a graduate of Syracuse Law School, I not only root for the orange, I root for Upstate New York as well. That's why this special election you'll be holding next Tuesday, March 31st is so important to me. I'm supporting Scott Murphy for Congress, and so is President Obama. Scott's a businessman who helped create over 1,000 jobs. He knows people have to work together to get things done, and he'll work with Democrats and Republicans in Congress to get things done for Upstate New York. That's why Scott supports our economic recovery plan, because it means 76,000 jobs for Upstate and funding for schools, which helps keep property taxes down. We have a lot of work to do, and Scott will help get it done. So I hope you'll vote next Tuesday. And I hope you'll join President Obama and me, Joe Biden, in supporting Scott Murphy. He's a businessman who knows how to create jobs for Upstate New York.

You can listen to the ad here:

Election Day is next Tuesday, March 31.

On the web: Scott Murphy for Congress.

McCain/Palin: The Original ELITISTS

by: Soundpolitic

Thu Sep 18, 2008 at 13:33:49 PM EDT

Cross-Posted on DailyKos

I haven't been focusing too much on the Presidential campaign.  I'm far too confident that Barack Obama and Joe Biden will be inhabiting the White House come January 2009.

I'm also pretty confident that neither Obama nor Biden would waste their money installing a tanning bed in the chief executive's mansion.  But follow the link, and you'll find that McPublican VP nominee Sarah Palin did just that in the Alaska Governor's mansion.

Now this has been blogged here on DailyKos earlier this week and a few angles continue.  My angle?  When you add the Palin tanning bed installment to the John McCain mulitple house fiasco, you get the perfect opportunity for the Obama/Biden campaign to come out with the response ad to end all response ads.  The McPalin ad in question is the recent "Original Mavericks" spot now playing in media markets across the fruited plain.

My proposal, below the fold, is a word-for-word reply...McCain/Palin: The Original Elitists.

The Winnning Narrative

by: Intrepid Liberal Journal

Fri Sep 12, 2008 at 08:05:55 AM EDT

The topic below was originally posted yesterday on my blog, the Intrepid Liberal Journal.

Change is passé. Barack Obama squeezed all the juice out of the change orange since announcing his candidacy in February 2007. Personally, I never thought much of the "change you can believe in" slogan but there is no denying Obama went far with it.

However, Sarah Palin's selection as McCain's running mate has convinced the public change is coming no matter who wins. Even worse, the very same corporate media that complained Obama only offered "words" compared to Hillary Clinton's policy specifics during the primary season now argue that McCain's lack of specifics does not diminish his stature as a maverick. Is that fair? Of course not! But there is no sense whining about it. These are the cards we've been dealt.

So how do we change the narrative? The solution is to present the voting public with a stark choice: progress or calamity. Change vs. more of the same is stale and no longer resonates.

Bill Clinton/John Kerry/Joe Biden Liveblog

by: Roatti

Wed Aug 27, 2008 at 21:35:02 PM EDT

(Bumped. - promoted by phillip anderson)

10:59: Obama says change starts not from the top-down, but from the bottom-up.  Amen.

10:57: The crowd is going nuts for Hillary

10:55: Obama enters!

10:53: A good, solid speech by Biden.  His main job was to give McCain a dressing down on foreign policy, which he did.

10:50: Obama was right to call for more troops in Afghanistan.

10:48: The real central front in the war on terror is Afghanistan and Pakistan.  Yes.

10:46: America needs more than a good soldier- we need a wise leader.

10:44: McCain voted 19 times against the minimum wage! the whoopass has begun.

10:43: Biden is calling McCain his friend.  You know the whoopass is aboout to start.

10:41: A job is more than a paycheck- it's the ability to look your children in the eye and tell them everything's gonna be all right.

10:39: George McCain freudian slip

10:36: Biden's talking about how his mom taught him to be tough- love it!

10:34: That slap at Cheney- HILARIOUS!

10:32: Biden gives well-deserved props to the Clintons.

10:28: Biden apparently called Milosevic a murderer to his face- that's friggin cool.

10:25: Biden's son, Delaware Atty General, Beau Biden is speaking and recapping the car accident tragedy his family suffered right before Biden was sworn in to his first Senate term.

10:21: Pelosi returns to introduce Biden.  The entire hall nominates him by acclamation.

10:19: Great speech by Duckworth- too bad she lost her congressional  race in '06, but she is now dedicating her life to helping veterans as the head of Veterans Affairs in Illinois.

10:13: Duckworth is hitting McShame on the his opposition to the GI bill.  Good for her- McShame's opposition to that bill is one of the most disgusting things he has ever done, in a long political career of disgusting acts.

10:09: Tammy Duckworth is now speaking- she's a double amputee (legs) who lost something like half the blood in her body when her helicopter was shot down in Iraq.

10:06: It always moves me to see pictures of our wounded troops- it's really hard to completely comprehend the huge sacrifices they make for our country

10:04: Our military is one of the most diverse institutions in the world, and we should all be damn proud of that.

10:01: Video tribute to the troops- I'm glad they got Steven Spielberg instead of his non-union Mexican equivalent, Senior Spielbergo.

9:59: Chet Edwards, Bush's congressman

9:49: Torture is not only morally repugnant, but militarilly ineffective-yes.

9:47: Claudia Kennedy- first female 3-star general

9:43: Obama's great uncle who liberated Buchenwald- that's what we call an American hero, folks.

9:41: I love this theme of showing how Obama has basically been dictating US foreign policy since Bush decided that the only way to do anything is to copy Obama's ideas.

9:39: "Years in the Senate or on this earth"- lol

9:38: Kerry hitting McSame on flip-flopping- sweet, sweet revenge!

9:36: Kerry says Obama will shut down gitmo. Good.

Bill Clinton's speech was pretty sweet!

VIDEO: Joe Biden Introduces Himself; Asks For Your Help

by: robert.harding

Mon Aug 25, 2008 at 11:42:30 AM EDT

Joe Biden is our vice presidential candidate in this race for the presidency. He is running alongside Barack Obama. He took the liberty over the weekend to introduce himself via YouTube and also ask for your help in supporting this campaign.

You can help by signing up here to share this video with your friends to get them motivated to come out and help the Obama-Biden team.

This is the change we have needed. With Obama at the top of the ticket and Biden as his number two man, we will have a great opportunity to bring change and a new era of leadership to the White House.

Also, if you contribute $15 or more, you will receive a first edition Obama-Biden car magnet to show your support for the Democratic ticket.

Secret Service Dispatched To Biden's Place

by: phillip anderson

Fri Aug 22, 2008 at 23:58:37 PM EDT

ABC's Jake Tapper has the goods:

U.S. Secret Service on Way to Biden's House; Kaine and Bayh Told Nope on Veep

The United States Secret Service has dispatched a protective detail to assume the immediate protection of Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., a source tells ABC News, indicating in all likelihood that Biden has been officially notified that Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, has selected him to be his running mate.

Sources also tell ABC News that two others said to be finalists for the position of Obama's running mate -- Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., and Virginia Gov Tim Kaine -- have been told they have not been selected for the vice presidential slot.

Kaine flew to Denver earlier today, is in Denver tonight and has no plans to leave in the next 24 hours. Bayh is at his Washington, DC, home with his family.

Biden was last seen minutes ago at his Wilmington estate where his extended brood is gathering.

This would seem to confirm the "friend of a friend of a source of a blogger" cited by Stoller

A friend of a friend overheard a phone conversation between Biden and Obama staffers making plans for Biden, his wife and his son to be in Springfield on Saturday.

As well as what Steve Clemons is reporting.

Looks to be Biden after all.

Sitting On the Fence Is Creasing My Activist Butt

(I want to actively encourage you to post your own candidate endorsements. Tell us who you are supporting and make the case. I will post them to the front page. I'll be posting my own shortly. ILJ gets us off to a great start with this eloquent and reasoned argument for John Edwards. - promoted by phillip anderson)

Warning, this is a long post. It's long because supporting a presidential candidate for me is deeply personal. It's not simply deciding which candidate I will pull the lever for in the privacy of a voting booth. Rather I approach the decision as an activist and ask myself: after weighing all the virtues and flaws of the declared candidates on whose behalf am I willing to devote my free time?

In my darker moments I'll ask myself, "Do any of these lying corporatist whores deserve my support? Why bother with any of them?" The ship has long sailed on my days of being a "true believer."

Speaking of That Primary Ballot...

by: phillip anderson

Fri Dec 07, 2007 at 13:49:53 PM EST

Yesterday was the filing deadline for candidates wishing to appear on New York's Feb 5th Primary ballot. It appears that all Dems but Gravel and Dodd  submitted petitions. Only Clinton and Obama appear to have collected enough signatures in all of New York's CDs to qualify for full slates of delegates statewide.

Here are the totals of pages submitted by candidate:

Hillary Clinton:    4961
Barack Obama:       2872
John Edwards:       1864
Joe Biden:           894
Dennis Kucinich:     563
Bill Richardson:     352
